Pretty Pretty Please I Don't Want to be a Magical Girl

While I’d want this concept to mostly be a lighthearted comedy, since that’s more my forte, the north star (heh) of this premise would be the loss of passion for something you once loved, feeling the pressure/expectations of sticking with something that you’re “a prodigy” at and the subsequent burnout. How hard do you fight for an old passion or at what point do you just let it go? Is it even okay to give up when so many people are counting on you? 

Sounds bleak but I promise I’m an optimist and that will always reflect in my work :)

I was thinking about how yes, I significantly reduced the main cast in the redstart's ledger, but I definitely kept the characters that concentrated the "mismatched outlaws with mommy issues" them.

Zira: yeah so, my mother may or may not be death. her world-famous disappearance made her really popular among the true crime weirdos in my planet.

Alegría: my mother basically adopted me as a prop, and dropped at the first (admittedly disastrous) mistake I made at 15, deciding I was too much trouble and leaving me to fence for myself.

Alastair: my mother was so freaked out by my psychic powers she tried to drown me in a tub when I was a child. then she sold me to a royal family.

Latoya: ....... well I couldn't POSSIBLY top all of that [mother is a mass murdering dictator]. Leena: I grew up in an orphanage, so I don't have mommy issues. the others: no surrogate figures at all? mommy issues don't forgive. Leena: oh. Then yeah, I fucked my mom.

Fan art of @kianamaiart’s characters from I Don’t Want To Be A Magical Girl! (with glasses, ft misc glasses characters & two IDWTBAMG universe fan characters)

I’ve been following this project from the start so it’s been great seeing interactions between the characters and how the fandom is so excited for it. ^^

I tried to draw the cast from memory and, while Miss seems a little different from canon, at least I got the dark hair roots and strands sticking out lol. But details aside they’re all recognizable! Which means they’re lovely designs that are unique from one another✨

Eclipse’s shades are a combination of his usual eye mask and the shades from this artwork, and Hoshi’s glasses are inspired by this one!🌒⭐️

Designs… (I don’t have a name for her yet but) the pigtails girl’s shapes are a combination of curves pointing downwards and curves pointing upwards. The idea ended up being that she’s on Eclipse and Lady DeVoid’s side so (after reading this post by Kiana about how most of the characters had Aika’s design as the springboard and are designed to complement eachother) I wanted her design to complement those two’s, with some influence from Zira. I like that the strands of hair on her forehead and the shape around them mirror both Zira’s hair and DeVoid’s horns haha. Plus, I was trying to figure out how to design her glasses and they ended up being kind of the inverse of Eclipse’s eye mask, which is very nice. Eclipse and DeVoid seem to be associated with sharp curves and circle shapes; maybe her outfit could be a lot fancier…

As for what her role might be in the story… I dunno, if she works with Eclipse and DeVoid, and Eclipse is all ~theatric and grand~ then maybe she could be like… his assistant… or something? Who knows. Or, I say “observer from afar” so perhaps she actually gets along with Zira well and they’d watch on the sidelines while Aika and Eclipse duke it out…?

Eclipse… Moon… Umbra… man what if I just name the pigtails girl Yueshi (月食, lunar eclipse)(for both the moon motif that Zira and Eclipse have, and the darkness motif that Eclipse and DeVoid have haha)

Shooting star and telescope don’t feel quite right, but with the circular shapes and the lunar eclipse, I could kind of see her having some star trail motifs with her sweater…

I guess Umbra would be the same type of elf (? darkness/concept personified?) as Lady DeVoid but I’m not sure haha. We don’t have much information on DeVoid other than the fact that she is darkness itself and that she lost most of her powers which she can’t remember how to use. Banished by a Star Guardian, revenge, recruiting Eclipse to help spread the darkness particles to destroy the Star Guardian… If she has a similar backstory to MLP:FIM’s Princess Luna then does that mean she was originally Aika’s teammate or something? haha

About Umbra’s hair… (Feel free to correct me for any inaccuracies.) I think from the reference photos I was trying to draw box braids but got so focused on also making the braids look like moon phases that I’m not sure if it’d still be box braids in the end? They seem more like cornrows now, at least for the side ones?

Well, initially I scribbled down Yueshi so I could experiment with values because I was thinking about how light-coloured pants draw the eye too much if the outfit or the top half of the character is darker. (Half way through she ended up looking like a IDWTBAMG character so I tried to match the proportions with Aika’s turnaround.) But I suppose if there’s enough contrast for the upper half (and IDWTBAMG’s stark black design style gives a lot of contrast) then it works out better. I think the combination of making Yueshi’s hair and the top half of her sweater black and the circle shape white worked out okay. Initially she had large round eyes so I tried giving her round glasses too but since she ended up being a fan character in the universe, it was too similar to Aika and Zira.

Umbra’s design kind of popped into my mind today so I tried to scribble it down and experimented with hairstyles. But green and purple are already associated with Zira, and that shade of lavender is more like Eclipse so I guess I’ll fiddle around with her colour scheme more. Maybe there’s not enough of the signature black there, and both could use some more details to match the level of details in the canon designs… (If Yueshi works under DeVoid then she’d probably get a fancy outfit too.) Then again, Umbra is more like Miss in terms of detail so it seems she’d be a background/supporting character or something…🤔

(I can’t seem to escape the puffy sleeves/cone shape silhouette🤔 Gotta diversify. Also, not sure if it’s ‘cause of the project’s style or if I just really love circles in character design haha)

Personality

Don't let his pretty face deceive you, Zakari is weird. He has a wild imagination and tends to believe he is much more than he actually is. He spends most of the time spacing out, which makes people wonder what is this ikemen prince thinking about, but behind that pretty face of his lies a scheming gay. He is always planning "evil" edgy things that he would not really do at all, but he still thinks about it bc idk?? He thinks it's cool and he is a cool edgelord in his mind.

He's delusional and a personal dream of his is to win against Leona. Zakari makes his entire life goal to compete against him, but since Zakari is too prideful to go following Leona around like a fan, he competes against him in "imaginary battles". He also tried the Savanaclaw housewarden position in his mind. 💀

Students can oftentimes find Zakari mumbling to himself or talking to the voices in his head — it's better to leave him alone, he might bite.

Behind this weird ahh persona of his, he's actually a nice guy, but again, he's too prideful to admit.

Background

Surprisingly enough, he had a normal life. His mom was one of the royal guards of the Kingscholar family, and child Zakari would oftentimes encounter child Leona around. They were kind of friends, but Zakari's admiration twisted into a kinda toxic competition with Zakari wanting to be better than Leona.

Zakari might have evolved into a chuunibyou because his life was really just boring, and he was very boring himself (that's what he thinks, but is that the truth???), so he wanted to be a "cool" guy, and maybe have a personality that is interesting.

Trivia

Zakari is quick to lose his temper and does throw a lot of threats around, but he's... a kind soul deep inside. He says he would exterminate all flies from the world, but he wouldn't really hurt a single one.

"Ekon" means strong.

He hates chicken because in his opinion chicken tastes bland — it was his favorite food when he was a kid.

He likes tabletop RPG because he can be the coolest character however he wants.

Zakari believes wearing makeup makes him look less boring, but it's honestly not even for the aesthetic it's just for the competition 😭.

a/n: i changed almost everything about him, but in my opinion this version is better. this personality does not fit his design at all, but ig that's the intention???? 😭

Just a question. What if one of the demons that are currently fighting the two monkey brothers and ran away to hide as a close pet or servant to peaches? Would peaches protect them even knowing they are a demon? Will the two brothers kill their enemy despite peaches connection?

so this ask got me thinking about that “tiger on the mountain” fic that @hcdragonwrites wrote, and about a potential survivor of the battle against the tiger lord’s army. while all the soldiers would definitely be killed, perhaps an attendant or luggage carrier would be spared and added to the servant force on ffm.

Ksudra (“small” or “petty” in Hindi)— a lower servant of the tiger lord, Zira. she was originally going to be killed along with the rest of the invading tiger army, but reader stepped in on her behalf. reader felt pity for the small cat demon, and to protect her until she could escape, she asked that ksudra be assigned as one of her attendants. the warlords begrudgingly agreed, but not without very clear warning about what would happen if the cat deigned to hurt reader in any way. reader's ladies in waiting really, reeeeally don't like the new addition to their ranks.

Gale does a lot of experiments on Zira, with Zira's permission, of course. Tonight, he has the incubus kneeling on a plush pet bed with his hands bound above his head and strapped to a winch set into the tower's rafters - so that he can be pulled to his feet if need be. Zira's tail is raised and a soft rope around his midsection keeps it up against his back, giving Gale access to his ass and cunt. He's interested in seeing just how many eggs of different types Zira can hold inside of him at once, prompted by the incubus once boasting that he's "made to stretch" and can "take anything". They'll start with chicken eggs, which he can summon in abundance, and then move onto something larger, working their way up to gryphons, and then perhaps even dragon eggs.

Though Zira, being a sex demon, is made to stretch so that he can take creatures much larger than him, he can't actually stretch indefinitely. That myth comes from the fact that he can change the size of his body, so he grows when the pressure inside becomes too much. Tonight, though, Gale wants him to stay his "default" size, at around 7 feet tall and slim of build, and Zira agreed. He will reach his limit, it may just take a long time. Fortunately, their schedules are clear for the next few days, so time is something they have in abundance.

Astarion is there, of course, as Zira's mate and beloved, reclining back in a plush, high-backed chair with his cock in his hands and a wicked smirk on his lips.

Gale is also hard, but he ignores it in favor of recording observations. At least until they're finished with the experiment, at which time Zira will be unleashed to ruin Gale, and Astarion will join in for the fun of it.
